Yes, I'm sure the girls will be lining up to snag these guys. The big one has decided that anytime the camera comes out, he's supposed to act as if he's swallowed a bunch of crystal meth OR (in another great option) show you his backside. Tanner has made friends with the microwave and puts his face RIGHT ON IT while I'm warming things up. Have they ever linked any sort of harm to people from peering into these things without even blinking for 2-3 minutes? God, I hope not or he won't have enough brain cells left to learn to not eat rocks. Oh well. What do ya do?!?
Here's the transcript of a recent conversation with Ryan that should have all of the ladies swooning:
Me: "Ryan, we need to clean up some toys. It's hard to walk through here".
Ryan: "I can walk around okay".
Me: "Well, it's a mess and we don't have to live like pigs".
Am I alone here? Are anyone else's kids so wild before bed that you swear you will go crazy? Either way, I could sell tickets for the show that occurs between 7:00 and 8:00pm EVERY NIGHT around here! After dinner, we head upstairs. Some nights they take a bath or shower and some nights it's straight into jammies. Then the real action starts. Mostly, Tanner finds one car and pushes it around until time for bed. Oh, he does pause to scream bloody murder if Ryan tries to take it away or if it gets stuck somewhere. Most likely, he has pushed it under something on purpose only to create a bit of drama. Ryan runs wildly through the house usually making some awful, high pitched sound that probably drives the neighborhood dogs crazy. It drives me crazy, too. He only pauses to ask for some more food, because he never eats enough at the dinner table. Depending upon my strength left at that point in the day, sometimes he gets more and others I'm able to fight the good fight and explain the difference in meal time and bedtime. We go round and round on food. We always have. I'll post more on this later. For the last 30 minutes or so, they both get so silly that it is impossible to not laugh at them. These pictures are proof of that. I hope you enjoy a small taste of our life. It's not fair that I keep it all to myself!!! :)
I thought this was really funny. Hope you like it, too! We had a nice, mellow weekend. I've got some cute pictures of the boys that I'll get posted in the next few days. Right now, I just want to have my hot tea and watch the Oscars! I love John Stewart. I don't really care about the movies so much. Hope you've had a nice weekend! :)
After battling this mess for the last three weeks, I gave up and went to the doctor today. She looked and listened for a minute and then proclaimed me "infected". I've been called worse. She put me on an antibiotic for a sinus infection. Thank goodness. I'm so tired of coughing and blowing my nose. Ryan even asked my doctor today "Can you fix my mommy's boogers?". Thanks, Ryan. What a concerned little man.
Seems like I've been at the doctor a bunch since we've moved here. I feel lucky to have found good physicians that I feel comfortable with and I think they honestly care about me. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure at the end of last summer and have been on medicine ever since. It was very scary for me at first. It is very upsetting to be diagnosed with the same ailment that was one of the biggest contributors to both of your parent's demise. After thinking about it, I realized that it was better to be aware. You can't run away from your genes. So, here I am. It's just another pill to wash down with my good ol' thyroid medication that I've taken for the last decade.
It's raining some more. Thank goodness! I guess we will be staying home tomorrow. I've got the camera battery charging to catch Tanner doing his newest trick. You'll just have to check back to see what it is!!! Have a great evening!
Well, I'm finally on the mend. I still have a pretty ferocious cough and am really congested, but the fever and aches seem to have passed. Now I'm just so sore across my abs! It's like I've done sit ups every second for the last 5 days. I'm just trying to drink lots of water and get good sleep at night. What else can you do? So, on that note, I'm only posting some cute pics from the last few days. Ryan's Valentine's dance was fun. We got a TON of rain yesterday which is always worth mentioning. I'm not sure it's worth the picture I made of it, but whatever. This afternoon we went to the park with some friends and Tanner decided to give the big kid slide a whirl...so in true "crazy Tanner-man" fashion, he went head first and loved it. Enjoy the pics. I'll try to write something a bit more entertaining or thought provoking later this week. Wish me luck!
I'M SICK! Sick like I haven't been sick in years. Fever, check. Cough, check. Congested, check. Chills and aches, check. Can't smell or taste, check. Hurts to breath, check. Generally feel like the back side of some big, yucky animal...CHECK.
However poorly I feel, my family will end up getting the very short end of the sick stick. We gave the boys their Valentine's gifts this morning, carefully wrapped in the beautiful plastic Walgreen's pharmacy bags they were placed in when bought. Ryan has school today, so thankfully he'll have a party there. My AWESOME friend here, Nichole, has graciously offered to take Ryan to the park this afternoon to play with her kids so I can rest...and Ryan can do something besides watching the 14 videos I had planned on letting him sit through until bedtime. Tanner is pleased with the new toy that Granny Lin and Granddad sent him today, so he can play with it until dinner time. Dinner will be something special and healthy, like a Poptart. I may not even warm it up if I still feel like I do right now. Poor John. I've already notified him that there will not be the typical Valentine's Day menu tonight. In fact, there's no menu at all unless he brings it home in a bag for us.
Here's the good news...I have three expensive tickets to take myself and the kids to the circus tomorrow morning at 10:30. Luckily, it will be so loud that nobody will hear my coughing, nose blowing, or crying because I'm miserable.
Oh, and tomorrow is John's birthday. I can't even think about it.
Somebody send me a dozen boxes of tissues and some balloons with coughdrops attached!!! I'm cheap this Valentine's Day, and not in any sort of exciting way!!!
Well, hello! Wow...Monday again already. Not my favorite (read here for more on that) but we had a nice weekend. Beautiful sunshine and lots of it! Our big news...Tanner really walked some! He's still a crawler 95% of the time, but this is a start. We are so proud of him. Ryan is pretty excited at the prospect of having someone besides Mommy to run and play with. Good times.
We went to Stone Mountain yesterday for the first time and were very impressed. It really isn't that far from Atlanta. It took under an hour from door to door. It's huge! Lots of hiking trails, fishing, great playgrounds for the kids, and lots of other stuff. We barely scratched the surface. Ryan got to use his Spiderman fishing pole (thanks, Granddad!) but didn't have any luck. His choice of cowboy boots made standing on the banks and casting a bit tricky, so better luck (and shoes) next time. Tanner loved being outside and watching Ryan. Of course, he ended up mad because he wanted in the lake. Not quite summer time yet, but it won't be long, Tanner!
Today starts the year end audit for John's client, so he'll probably have to check this blog for the next couple of weeks for an update on us. He'll be swamped but we have plenty to keep us busy. Ryan's school has their Sweetheart Dance this Wednesday (I'll be sure and put up pics!), Thursday is his class party, Friday is John's birthday and we're going to the circus, Saturday we're going out to celebrate, and next week is a bunch of other stuff that I'll save to tell you about. Enjoy the pics from our weekend. Please feel free to leave any comments! I just love it when there are comments for me to read!!! Yes, I do this for selfish reasons! :) JK!
I must say, I am incredibly lucky to be able to stay home with the boys! I do love nursing, but this is much better on so many levels. We are fortunate to have this luxury and I am so thankful. Thanks, John!
The phrase "stay home" somehow implies a sense of calmness and order. NOTHING could be farther from the truth! Most days, even the great ones, are made up of tears, time outs, and frustrated little men who want their way and will stop at nothing to get it. I love all of it. The good times and the, well, less than perfect ones, too. The laughter, smiles, new accomplishments, watching two brothers learn to love (and hate) each other...nothing could beat that. So how do my cute boys repay me? What words would sum up how much they love and appreciate me? This is their answer:
Usually within the first hour after John's departure to the office, the first round goes down. Tanner wants to climb up the stairs alone. Ryan wants to have gum at 8:00 AM. Tanner and Ryan start beating on the backdoor wanting to play outside while it's raining and we still all have on pj's. They promptly start SCREAMING for their daddy! There is a split second that I stand offended and hurt, but then I always smile. I'm so glad they love him so much. From the moment he walks in at night until both kids are asleep, they are on him like white on rice. He can't even change his clothes in peace anymore as he now enjoys the boys company along with the dog. Poor man. Maybe somebody could give him a secret hatch to crawl in for 15 minutes a day for some peace and quiet! He takes it all in stride. He loves them as much as they love him.
Happy Super Tuesday! Have you been out to vote yet? Me either! I guess I'll go after I pick up Ryan from school since Tanner is taking a nap right now. I think I've decided who to vote for. I'm really no good at politics. Never have been and I don't suspect I'll ever devote the time and attention it would take to get me to the "good at it" level. So, every election I'm forced to go through this painful process along with my fellow Americans. This year, things are a little different. Check out this! Take a few minutes and plug in your answers then find out which candidate your views are most closely aligned with. Pretty cool! I love the internet!
I've been getting hate mail from some of you (you know who you are...stop it!) wanting new pictures of the house. Seriously, most have asked nicely so check these out:
So there you go! The letter wall isn't totally finished yet. I've got several more small ones coming to fill in the spaces throughout. I just realized the rugs in that bathroom aren't down because I washed them and they were still in the dryer. The pics in the middle of the bedrooms and baths are in the basement and are extra. Our bedroom is the one with the four poster bed and the really light blue/green bathroom is the master. The screened in porch is one of our favorite rooms when it isn't cold outside. I'll post some new pics of the boys rooms when Tanner isn't sleeping up there.
I better get up and do a few things before it's time to go get Ryan in an hour or so. Have a great day...make that a Super Tuesday!!!
That would be me. I really don't care for Mondays very much. It means lots of laundry waiting to be washed, folded, and returned to its correct location. It means a very dirty house that has three days worth of crumbs, shoes, and other treats all over the floors and furniture. Monday means watching Daddy drive away, not to be seen until the sun goes down and we are all tired.
Ugh. How am I suppose to get excited about that? Well, the good news is that we always make the most of our time together during the weekend. We had a fun dinner Friday night with some of our new friends here. Ryan goes to school with their son and John works with the husband. The Mellow Mushroom. Great pizza! The kids ate and then the guys took them outside, leaving my friend and I to sit, enjoy the rest of the pitcher of beer, and talk LOST. Love that show. More on it later!
Saturday morning we gathered ourselves, pointed the SUV towards Auburn, Alabama, and drove for two hours. Why? We've been looking for several weeks now and finally found the right one...a 2007 Jeep Unlimited 4 door! It's black and just sooooo much fun. I'll post some pictures later today when it stops raining. We don't ever wish for the rain to stop here! :)
Yesterday we found several reasons to pile up in the Jeep and drive around. The boys love the top down! Tanner's fine little blond hair just blows around...so cute! I made chili and we watched the Super Bowl. Tanner went to bed at 6:45 and Ryan at 7:20. Aaahhhhhh. I literally sat on the couch, only getting up twice to make more hot tea, until the end of the game. WAY TO GO GIANTS!!!
So here we go with another week. Just the usual stuff. The boys are well and John seems pretty much over his cold. I have a cough, but it's no big deal. Duty is calling and I better get busy! Hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week!
I couldn't resist posting this...it's way too funny. Ryan is begging me to watch it again, but the language is a little too trashy for a four year old. He's currently preoccupied watching a professional fishing show that John had on earlier. Oh well, at least he's not screaming "I'm The Emperor" and running wildly through the house while his brother tries to sleep. Yes, it's nearly 9:00am and Tanner is still out. :)
I will be posting something fun later today or tomorrow. I have several things I want to tell/talk about. I'll leave you hanging for a little longer as we're off to Alabama today to pick up our newest toy. What could it be...?!?
This is the blog of the Lambert family and our adventures in life! We have two amazing little boys, two wild dogs, a borderline-neglected fish and a new little Lambert on the way this December. Atlanta has become our new home and we look forward to making wonderful memories here. Life is good and we are loving every minute of it!
I am a passionate mom to my two sweet little men and one precious baby girl. Before my career in professional bum-wiping, I was an ER/ICU nurse. I'm also a trained chef from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. So, basically, I've picked the three careers with the worst hours, lowest pay, and highest probability in being exposed to dirty backsides. My favorite of the three...being MOMMY!!! I am amazed daily by my boy's personalties and enthusiasm for life, my husband's boundless patience, and my friend's big hearts. Even with life's ups and downs, I remind myself to count my blessings and smile!
